In a murder/suicide, does a homeowner's policy or life insurance allow for the victim's only child to collect?

Regarding your step father's life insurance, if he had the policy over two years then the cause of death is non-contestable, therefore the beneficiary under the policy can make a claim under the policy. There should be no issue with your mother's policy regardless of when it was purchased. I doubt whether there would be any coverage under the homeowners policy, but you might want to investigate further because that is beyond my area of knowledge.

It is doubtful that you will be receiving any help or support in getting back to counseling and medication, although it may well be ordered. I would suggest very strongly that you engage an attorney to try to help you defend yourself in this matter.

Can I be accused of stealing if someone lost a phone in a desk where I sit?

Answered by attorney Nathaniel D Shafer
Criminal Law lawyer at Natty Shafer Law
It is unlikely that a prosecutor would bring charges under those circumstances, but you never know for sure. If you are charged, you should hire a lawyer immediately.
