Richard Keith Oliver

Criminal Law lawyer at The Law Office of Rick Oliver
It is very likely they will issue a warrant for your arrest. Likely, you'll either be charged with Credit Card Abuse or Theft. You're definitely going to want to hire an attorney. If you've never been in trouble before it's pretty likely that you can avoid doing jail time. However, there are other considerations that need to be made in order to protect your permanent criminal record. I know it seemed like no big deal at the time, but trust me, it is a much bigger deal than you realize. You can get through this, and move forward with your life, but you need to address this directly, and correctly, to ensure it doesn't haunt you for the rest of your life.

Can I get a DUI while driving on private property?

Answered by attorney Matthew G McHenry
Criminal Law lawyer at Levine & McHenry LLC
Technically no-one of the elements of a DUII charge is that the vehicle be operated on a public highway or a place that the public has access to. That being said, you could be charged with "Attempted DUII," a charge the Oregon Court of Appeals recently confirmed is valid. The state may try to prove that even though you were on private property at the time, you intended to drive onto public property. Not saying the state would win, but it is something to be aware of.
