What can I do if was involved in an assault case?

Answered by attorney Jared Altman (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Office of Jared Altman
You need a criminal attorney. An attorney can spot weaknesses in the case that you would never see and knows how to navigate the system and comply with all procedures. Also, the prosecutor will probably not speak with you directly so no plea bargaining will happen unless you have a lawyer. Get a lawyer right away!

Is there any way to get DUI and assault cases reopened or to get her sentence of work release modified?

Yes, you must go before the court and display good cause for doing so, and the sentence may be modified. This can usually be done for modest fee.

Should I hire a lawyer to meet with the DA?

Answered by attorney Warren S. Hecht
Criminal Law lawyer at Warren S. Hecht
Let me put it this way. You have a pending case and you are thinking about meeting with the person who is prosecuting the case against you without a lawyer. Anything you say at the meeting could be used against you in a court of law.  Speak to an attorney first. For example, the attorney may advise that you not meet with the DA or give other alternatives which would protect your rights.
