I tell clients the fact the credit card company turned the account over to a collection agency is usually good news. Usually a credit card company will turn it over to an attorney if they plan to sue you. Although certain collection companies do nothing else except act as agents for the credit card company to sue you.

You have to ask the bank what's "enough". If all you need to do is transfer your property, my firm has a service where we will allow you to deed property to a holding company so you don't have to worry about it.

Is Bankruptcy better than debt consolidation?

The decision to file bankruptcy or to find another strategy to resolve your current difficulty is a product of reviewing the totality of your circumstances, not just a couple of facts. You should explore alternatives to bankruptcy and get advice from a professional who has your best interests at heart and not theirs.
