How can I remove two liens from credit card companies after chapter 7 was discharged?

You could have moved for avoidance of the liens before discharge, but you cannot get that afterwards. This is a very good example of why you need an attorney for a bankruptcy.

Can the mortgage company file a lien or is there a statue of limitations?

Answered by attorney Daniel A. Edelman
Bankruptcy lawyer at Edelman, Combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC
Consult your bankruptcy attorney. A mortgage is normally good against the borrower whether or not recorded. However, recording after the petition is filed may not be legal, and a trustee has the power of a lien creditor, and may take over an unrecorded mortgage. Whether asserting such rights requires affirmative action in the bankruptcy or is beneficial to you needs to be discussed with the bankruptcy attorney.

How does filing for bankruptcy affect our ability to keep our home?

Answered by attorney Joon Mo Khang (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Khang & Khang LLP
If you are current on mortgage payments and continue to make timely payments even after filing bankruptcy, you should be able to keep your home. With regard to other risks, you need to review all of your assets to determine if there are any assets which are not protected by exemptions which might have to be surrendered during bankruptcy.
