Am I liable for a credit card's debt for my business if my company is no longer in business?

Answered by attorney Daniel A. Edelman
Bankruptcy lawyer at Edelman, Combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC
You are liable only if you signed a document making you liable. Request a copy of any document you signed making you liable. If they cannot provide one, they have no basis for attempting to collect anything from you, or listing the debt on your credit reports (check them). A statement in the credit card agreement making you liable, without your signature, is not enough. Many credit card companies attempt to collect from persons connected with defunct businesses who have no liability.

I need the details, sounds odd. Generally you are you and your sentence is all you have to worry about and are responsible for.

Bring this to the attention of your bankruptcy attorney. It should have been listed on your discharge. Get a copy and send it to the lender or the credit report companies.
