Can I get married after I filed or do I have to wait until the 90 days and get it discharged?

Richard B. Jacobson
Answered by attorney Richard B. Jacobson (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Richard B. Jacobson Associates, LLC
In general, filing a Ch. 7 does not in the slightest affect your right to get married. I don't understand what 'it' is that you mention being discharged, but assuming you mean your load of debt, your marriage should not affect it. The BR relates only to debts you incurred before the date you filed your Bankruptcy petition.

What does medical debt affects as far as my assets are concerned?

Answered by attorney Edward M Olson (Unclaimed Profile)

You have asked many questions. In short, a creditor with a judgment against you can garnish your wages, take your car, garnish bank accounts, and seize any other assets they can find... until the judgment is paid in full. You can always petition the court for permission to pay the judgment in payments... then .. as long as you make those payments, the creditor can do nothing. You can negotiate directly with the creditor to settle with payments.

If you have broken leases and you file for bankruptcy, will those broken leases still show on your history after you file?

Answered by attorney Stuart M. Nachbar
Bankruptcy lawyer at Law Office of Stuart M. Nachbar, P.C.
While it may show on your credit report depending on who the Lease is with, the Bankruptcy will create a demarcation on your credit report which gives you a fresh start.
