Several issues that need to be dealt with . First and foremost, how much are your assets worth? In bankruptcy, the court may force you to sell cars,summer houses,  boats and cash in bank accounts to pay creditors. Some assets are protected but Bankruptcy Trustees live for unsophisticated people with unprotected assets  to file bankruptcy . Second, the court will force you to change your lifestyle before giving you relief. For example, I am working with a painting contractor who sends his kid to private school. I could not put him into bankruptcy  because the court would require him to send his kid to public school and use the money to pay creditors. If issues like this are resolved, then a bankruptcy may give you relief
