If you are just looking for 15 days delay, then filing bankruptcy is a terrible idea. Between the work involved in preparing the schedules, taking the pre-filing course, paying the filing fees.. you will save a lot of money by finding temporary housing for 15 days somewhere else.

If we or I can no longer pay out debts and maintain two households, (reconciliation isn't possible), what happens if I should file while still marrie

If you live in Austin, most bankruptcy attorneys here give a free consultation. You should take advantage of that. If separated, you can file bankruptcy alone. Only your income and any contribution he makes to your household will be considered. It will not affect his credit.

Can a married woman in California file chapter 7 on her own?

A spouse may file bankruptcy separately from her spouse. However, separate-filing is a yellow wet-floor-sign: it's slippery when wet. A waiver may be necessary and debtors often fail to appreciate that the nonfiling spouse's assets and income are integral to the filing spouse's bankruptcy. The decision whether to file jointly or not is not straightforward; you should both consult with counsel. Don't let the national credit-score-obsession strictly dictate your moves.
