From the beginning, Mr. Winters was only interested in defending the criminally accused from the unforgiving government. He has focused his career on DUI Defense and Criminal Defense.
After graduating from Georgia State University Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science, Mr. Winters matriculated to Georgia State University's College of Law. In his second year at the College of Law, Mr. Winters began an Internship with DeKalb County Public Defender where he successfully argued several Constitutional motions before even finishing law school. While attending Georgia State Law, Mr. Winters also received distinctions in Advanced Evidence and Litigation. Mr. Winters graduated from Georgia States College of Law with the highest distinction in public service.
Directly after law school, Mr. Winters went to work for Houston County's Public Defenders Office where he defended over 300 misdemeanor cases from traffic citations to Domestic Violence charges to DUI's. Eventually he went on to work directly with the Georgia Public Defenders Council and defended over 100 felony cases all over north Georgia ranging from drug possession to murder.
Mr. Winters is a member of the Georgia Criminal Defense Bar, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL), and in 2017 was awarded the prestigious Top 40 Under 40 for Georgia criminal defense lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Winters is admitted to practice in all of Georgia's Municipal, State and Superior Courts, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the Norther Federal District of Georgia.
When not practicing law, Mr. Winters is spending time with his wife and children in Gwinnett County.
