Many of you have to manage this legal and emotional burden while continuing to maintain jobs, pay bills, taxi children to their extra-curricular activities, assist with homework, etc. That is why we decided to focus our entire practice on this one area of law. That is why we are here for you. We take care of your divorce. You take care of your life.

At Meriwether & Tharp one of our core values is education. We focus extensively on internal training and education for our divorce lawyers to keep them sharp on the latest best practices. Externally, we focus heavily on providing free resources to educate our clients so they can make the best possible decisions in their divorce and achieve their goals. Further, our divorce lawyers are resolution focused. Rather than focusing on upping the legal fees through incessant fighting and litigating, we focus on quickly finding the best resolution that also meets your goals for the divorce.

Hired Law Firm

They will steal your money! This law firm charges ridiculous amounts of money with a monthly fee of $799! Most law firms charge you for the services they’ve done and pull from your retainer fee which ranges in cost. Then if your case gets within 10 days of a court date, this law firm will charge a non-negotiable, non-refundable, $6000 court appearance fee that you must pay prior to court appearance. Even if you don’t go to court and an agreement is met prior to the court date, they will not refund you!

STAY AWAY!!!!!!! I retained this firm after receiving comforting consultation from one of the firm’s partners. I was later assigned an attorney, which I later discovered was newly hired at the firm. Immediately they billed for every phone call, email and alleged communication with other attorneys. My retainer was used in 1 1/2 months before attending any court/mediation. The billing department relentlessly pursued me to pay & took long to address my concerns if at all. My experience was extortion! They wanted 40K for 6 months of service. I got out of office emails when I was owed answers. My attorney would lie to me, and allegedly lied on me. I’d call the paralegal to get a different story/advice than what the attorney gave. They have no compassion for you and certainly not your family. My entire time I felt that my attorney was working with my Ex’s. She would send files to them without my approval, know info from them but tell me she had no contact with them. This should be criminal!!

Lolita Beyah was my attorney but was absolutely terrible. My ex husband did not have an attorney and she acted as his at times. He agreed to give me the house outright and she put in the papers he was to get 30%. She never went over the papers, I had to proofread, catch it myself, and interpret it myself. She stayed busy during our whole appointment and never once sat down with us. I caught the part about the house and questioned her about it, she said since he didn’t have an attorney, it would look fishy to the judge and she “had to protect her name.” She also had me making more than I do and my ex husband making less on the child support sheet. I pointed it out, and had to fight her to change that as well. Originally I was to get less than $200 for 2 kids, and I had to FIGHT my attorney for more, even though he was there and willing to sign corrected documents. My divorce was completely uncontested and they charged me thousands.

Working with this company is a nightmare. Make sure to ask for invoices as you go. They lie and backdate documents. When you ask for information you will be put off to several different people. I would recommend that you never call this office.

WARNING- DO NOT HIRE TO HANDLE YOUR DIVORCE! As if a divorce is not painful enough, discovering the legal team that you have hired is incompetent makes it an unbearable process. Going into the process, I thought I hired the right team for their experience & reputation (great marketing) only to discover error after error after error! The most disturbing fact here is my divorce was a fairly SIMPLE, uncontested divorce; however, due to their errors, they made it more complicated.

My son call Meriwether and Tharp after much research into divorce attorneys. This was definitely a new area and experience for him. He spoke directly with Mr. Tharp and was very impressed. Thinking Mr. Tharp was going to represent him, he signed up and paid the retainer. The next day he was told he will be represented by Courtney a Junior Associate.. Five weeks and almost $5000 later nothing was accomplished. He hired a new attorney and now it is moving along. Would not recommend this firm.

This law firm took me for a ride that lasted for years longer than it should have. They didn't answer phone calls or emails. They did charge huge fee's for various services that the other individual in my case failed to comply with. This was never addressed with the courts and they never addressed several other major issues. In the long run the cost me a fortune and lost me my kid. I wish I had gotten a decent lawyer. Take it from me and save yourself the pain. Don't waste your time!
