Lillian is an Associate working in the Family and Matrimonial Department at O'Connell and Aronowitz. Joining our firm in June 2022 as a Law Clerk, she assisted with legal research, motion drafting, client interviews, drafting equitable distribution and custody agreements, corresponded with opposing counsel, and attended Court conferences and trials. She brings a diverse set of skills, a passion for family and matrimonial law, and a commitment to justice.
Earning her J.D. from Albany Law School, Lillian distinguished herself in various moot court competitions. Notably, she competed in the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Competition and emerged as a finalist in the Karen C. McGovern Senior Prize Trials Competition. Lillian’s commitment to excellence extended beyond the courtroom as she served as the President and Captain of Albany Law School Women’s Rugby, showcasing her leadership skills both in and out of legal settings.
During her time at Albany Law School, Lillian served as the 3L Representative for the Family Law Society. Additionally, she gained valuable experience as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Andra Ackerman at the Albany County Court, Third Judicial District. In this role, she contributed to case law research and the drafting of decisions, playing a pivotal role in the first decision issued by Albany County Court to deny the dismissal of counts on an indictment following the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen, 597 U.S. 1 (2022).
Building on her academic success, Lillian served as a Certified Legal Intern for the Albany County District Attorney’s Office in the Special Victims Unit. In this role, she assisted in trial preparation, conducted case research, drafted motions, conducted interviews with victims, and argued Sex Offender Registration Act Hearings, showcasing her dedication to seeking justice and protecting vulnerable individuals.
Lillian received her undergraduate degree from the University at Albany, where she excelled as a competitor on the Mock Trial team and served as Captain during her final year. Graduating magna cum laude in just three years, she earned double majors in Economics and Psychology. Her commitment to research and presentation was evident when she delivered a presentation on “Consumption in the Capital Region for Future Generations” at the 16th Annual Undergraduate Conference at the University at Albany.
Originally from Kingston, NY, Lillian enjoys spending her free time playing with her cats, Chip and Queso, and watching the New York Rangers.
