Smilie G. Rogers is an experienced attorney focusing on estate planning, elder law, and probate matters. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon School of Law, where he graduated with Order of the Coif honors, and an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Washington School of Law. Early in his career, Smilie served as an attorney-adviser to Judge Carolyn P. Chiechi at the U.S. Tax Court. His practice includes advanced estate planning, federal tax matters, and assisting clients with navigating life’s transitions. In 2013, Smilie was recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine. He is an advisory board member for InterActive Legal, a national drafting service for attorneys, where he represents the State of Maine. Smilie is licensed to practice law in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, having previously practiced in Washington State and Virginia. Outside of work, Smilie resides in South Berwick, Maine, with his wife, Mary Kathryn Brennan, and their three children. He enjoys exploring the outdoors of Maine and New Hampshire with his family. A former chair of the South Berwick Zoning Board of Appeals and member of the Kennebunk Rotary Club, Smilie remains engaged in his community.
