About Greg Lighty

Meet Greg Lighty, a highly acclaimed personal injury lawyer and co-founder of Kapuza Lighty, PLLC – Accident Injury Lawyers in Yakima, Washington.

After graduating from the University of Washington School of Law in 1991, Greg returned to his hometown of Yakima, WA, where he has been serving his community ever since. With over 30 years of experience in personal injury cases, Greg is an expert in his field. He has dedicated his practice to helping people who are injured through the fault of others.

He is recognized nationally by Martindale-Hubbell with its top rating of “AV Preeminent” for outstanding legal ability and ethics. Greg has received numerous awards and recognition, such as being named a “Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics magazine since 2020 and being named a member of America’s Most Honored Lawyers by the American Registry. As a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Greg has made significant recoveries for many clients who suffered injuries caused by car or truck accidents, slip-and-falls, and dog bites.

But that’s not all. Greg is also heavily involved in his community. He and his wife, Catherine Lighty, who recently retired from practicing family law in Yakima, have two adult children and have been dedicated youth sports coaches for nearly 20 years, coaching basketball, soccer, football, baseball, and golf. Greg and Catherine have each served terms on boards for local non-profit organizations, including the United Way of Central Washington, for whom Greg served at the Pillars’ Chair for two years, The First Tee of Yakima, Rod’s House, the Dispute Resolution Center of Central Washington, and the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy. Greg was also the Chairman of the City of Yakima Civil Service Commissions for more than 20 years and he is a current member of the Yakima Downtown Rotary Club.

When he’s not advocating for his clients, Greg relishes indulging in a few of life’s pleasures such as exploring new destinations, savoring delectable culinary experiences, perfecting his golf swing, and discovering new varietals of wine to appreciate.

If you or a loved one have been injured, Greg Lighty and the team at Kapuza Lighty are here to help. With his impressive legal accolades and dedication to his community, you can trust that you’re in good hands.
