Wilborn Law serves DC, FL, MD, SC, and VA.
Since 1998 after having suffered a cycling fatality in his own family, Founding Partner Peter Wilborn has represented over 750 cyclists and their families on their very worst days. Bike crashes are different from other personal injury cases in many ways: mostly because we treasure our time in the saddle, and the contrast between our joy and instant tragedy can be devastating -- especially when the crash takes that joy away.
Peter is a life-long cyclist (his raced, commuted, toured and, most of all, ridden for fun), collects N+1 bikes, and knows that cycling is the best way to improve our world, our local communities, and ourselves.
As the Managing Partner of Wilborn Law, he represents injured cyclists. As an advocate for better and safer cycling, Peter is the Founder of the Bike Law Network of independent bike lawyers across the country and the Co-Founder of the non-profit Bike Law Foundation, each of which serves a different function to protect all people who ride.
Peter lives and breathes our cause: he testifies before legislatures for legal reform, speaks to bicycle clubs and advocacy groups, and trains law enforcement on bicycle safety and bicycle laws.
Peter was awarded the Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award (1 of 5 in the country) by the American Bar Association, in addition to awards from the South Carolina Bar Association and advocacy groups. He's been rated a Pre-Eminent Attorney for over a decade.
One of the greatest strengths of Wilborn Law is its dedicated, devoted, and experienced staff led by nationally known cycling advocate Rachael Maney. Rachael is a former member of Team USA in triathlon and the Co-Founder of the Bike Law Foundation. The firm's associate attorney is Todd Messner who spent a decade as a lawyer's lawyer and now does nothing but bicycle litigation.
