About Mr. William Scott Harkey

My law practice focuses primarily on high stakes litigation. I represent businesses and individuals in State and Federal courts. In recent years, I achieved favorable verdicts in some of the most notorious fraud cases in modern North Carolina history, including a $ million contract fraud case, the UNC athlete agent scandal, and a multi-million-dollar Ponzi scheme. In 2018, I became a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in state criminal law. My philosophy is to be fully engaged in the representation of my clients. I will communicate candidly, prepare thoroughly, and advocate zealously. This is my promise.

I didn't know where to turn with my case. I was likely going to spend time in jail. I researched as much as I knew how when I found Mr. Harkey's firm. I called Scott and had a very promising consultation. I felt that Scott was a very down to earth person. He spoke with me in a way that made me feel like he was going to do all he could to help me out of my predicament. Scott was very open with me about what I would likely be facing and what he was going to do to prevent that from happening. He was clear that if I needed anything to contact him (phone, email, etc...) I met Scott for the 1st time at my first court hearing. Every feeling I had was validated during our first in person meeting. We had a continuance and a 2nd hearing. Scott was well prepared for my case regardless of any possible circumstances. In the end, my case was dismissed. I followed all of Scott's guidance and communicated regularly. I cannot thank Scott, et al enough! I highly recommend Scott to everyone!

Unfortunately, my son got himself in trouble resulting in a federal charge; however fortunate for us, we hired Scott and his team to defend my son. Scott is very kind and compassionate in how he approached my son. Before Scott even decided to represent him, he met with him in order to get to know him as a person and not as the person who was accused of a crime! This speaks volumes! Scott and his team kept us abreast in every phase of his proceedings. He did not sugarcoat anything. Scott and his team were (are) very knowledgeable, professional and well prepared, as the outcome was better than we could have EVER hoped for! My son was facing Federal time; but thanks to Scott et al, my son received 3 years Federal probation! I am forever grateful to Scott and team!
