David C. Gagne’s statewide family law practice touches on all areas of the Delaware Family Court’s civil jurisdiction, particularly custody, child support, divorce, alimony, protection from abuse, and guardianship proceedings. Clients seek out David’s substantial trial experience, knowing that his preparation and dedication to a case are the keys to a successful outcome, either negotiated or after a hearing. Fellow lawyers and members of the Delaware Bench hire David to represent them in their personal matters as well as refer their family, friends, and important clients to David. So well respected is David in the courtroom that family law attorneys from other firms have hired David as co-counsel specifically for trial.
Throughout his 25-year career, David has been involved in landmark cases involving premarital agreements, third party visitation, discovery issues, high net worth child support, and alimony.
A native of Harrington, Delaware, David is licensed to practice law in Delaware and before the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. David received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in 1988 and his law degree with honors from Delaware Law School in 1992. David is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the Melson-Arsht American Inn of Court. When he is not practicing law, David enjoys spending time with his wife, Sherry and his three sons, as well as playing competitive beach volleyball.
