Before joining Filippatos PLLC, Nigar worked at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP as Pro Bono Attorney focused on managing and growing the global firm’s award-winning pro bono litigation practice in New York and California. Before Cleary, she litigated plaintiffs’ employment, sex abuse, antitrust, and consumer protection claims at Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP.
Prior to LCHB, she worked on affirmative litigation and policy advocacy to advance gun safety as Counsel at Everytown Law. Nigar began her career litigating civil and criminal matters across the US at the trial and appellate levels at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where she maintained an extensive civil rights pro bono practice at the firm and on secondment with Brooklyn Legal Services.
Nigar graduated from Berkeley Law, where she served as student government president, as well as a Civil Rights Fellow at Berkeley’s Center for the Study of Law and Society, a Writing and Oral Advocacy Teaching Assistant, and a member of the Admissions Committee. Nigar earned BAs in Human Biology and Political Science and honors in International Security Studies from Stanford, where she competed nationally as part of the university’s cheerleading and Bollywood dance teams.
