Ms. Catala advises clients on a variety of issues that may arise out of the employment relationship, including but not limited to workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, employee discipline and termination as retaliation, denial of disability accommodations, family and medical leave eligibility, and separation agreements.
Prior Experience
Prior to joining Filippatos PLLC, Ms. Catala was an attorney at Fox News Corporation where she analyzed and advised on the reporting of complex breaking legal news for broadcast to national audiences.
Ms. Catala served as a judicial intern to Chief Judge Carla E. Craig, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York, where she assisted in all aspects of discovery and pretrial matters including research and drafting of opinions and bench memoranda. Ms. Catala also served as a judicial intern to Administrative Judge Erin Stilp at the EEOC, where she assisted in the investigation of claims and drafting of final decisions, and most importantly, gained invaluable familiarity with workplace discrimination and wrongful termination matters from a judge’s viewpoint.
Additionally, Ms. Catala worked as a student attorney at Brooklyn Legal Services Employment Law Clinic, where she counseled and represented indigent clients at hearings before the Department of Labor regarding various workplace matters such as eligibility for unemployment benefits, allegations of misconduct, and FLSA violations.

When not practicing law, Kimberly enjoys gardening, antiquing, teaching tennis, and spending time with her friends and family.
