Rebecca Mercier Vargas is a Board Certified, Martindale-Hubbell AV-Preeminent rated appellate lawyer with a focus on civil appeals and litigation support. Ms. Vargas has also been selected for inclusion in the Florida Super Lawyers since 2012 and the Rising Stars Edition in 2009 and 2011. Florida Trend Magazine has selected Ms. Vargas for inclusion in the list of the Florida Legal Elite since 2013. The American Lawyer & Corporate Counsel magazine ranks Ms. Vargas as among the 2013 “Top Rated Lawyers” in Appellate Practice. She has appeared multiple times in the Florida Supreme Court and in District Courts of Appeal throughout the State of Florida. Ms. Vargas is admitted to practice in Florida, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Courts, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
Ms. Vargas is on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, Inc. Ms. Vargas is a past member of the Florida Supreme Court Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Civil Cases and served as Chair from 2016-2017. She was also a member of the Florida Supreme Court Committee on District Court of Appeal Workload and Jurisdiction (2004-2005) and the Florida Bar Appellate Rules Committee (2001-2004), serving as Secretary for two years. She is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar and its Appellate Practice Committee. Ms. Vargas is also a member the American Inns of Court and the Florida Association of Women Lawyers.
Ms. Vargas handles cases in a range of practice areas, including complex commercial, medical malpractice, personal injury, products liability, insurance, class actions, securities, marital and family law, probate and trust. She began her career as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Florida from 1998-2000. While a law student at the Florida State University College of Law, Ms. Vargas was a member of the Law Review and the Order of the Coif.
