My wife hired Helen for an appeals case. We were relying on Helen to help in a previous judgment which awarded my wife's ex-partner $18k+ in attorney fees. My wife was considering settling and looked to Helen for guidance. Helen discouraged her from settling, saying the judge had made an illegal ruling in awarding the attorney fees (due to the nature of the case). So, of course, my wife, trusting Helen's knowledge and experience, proceeded with the appeals. Thousands of dollars into Helen's pocket later, the appeal was lost. Helen was wrong in her assessment of the case. But that's not even the worst part. After the judgment, I called Helen, without my wife's knowledge, to state my displeasure in what happened. Helen then immediately writes an email to my wife, informing her she has been dropped as a client! Helen must have been embarrassed about losing the case. Dropping my wife as a client is unethical and a coward's way out. Other attorneys also questioned her behavior. Beware!
