About Michael A. D'Amico

For more than 35 years, Michael D’Amico has been one of Connecticut’s leading trial lawyers, fighting for victims of negligence, malpractice, and abuse. A founding partner of D’Amico Pettinicchi Injury Lawyers, he is dual board-certified in Civil Trial Advocacy and Civil Pretrial Practice by the National Board of Trial Advocacy – a distinction held by only select trial lawyers nationwide.

Mike has dedicated his career to fighting the good fight – standing up for people in their most difficult moments, including victims of catastrophic injury, nursing home neglect, medical malpractice, and wrongful death. He has tried some of the most complex and high-stakes cases in Connecticut, earning some of the largest personal injury verdicts in state history. These include:

  • $45 million verdict in 2025 which he tried with his son, Jeremy – the largest motorcycle injury verdict in Connecticut history, and
  • $23 million for a young man with autism who sustained brain injuries in a school bus crash which he and his son, Jeremy, also tried together.

Lawdragon praised Mike and his firm as “go-to warriors… boldly taking on fights thought impossible,” calling him “relentless, compassionate… a dominant force in the courtroom” who secures “frequent seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements” for injured clients.

He is a Past President of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and currently serves on its Board of Governors and its Executive and Medical Malpractice Committees, as well as being Co-Chair of the General Tort Committee. He has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers in the fields of personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability; has been selected several times by Best Lawyers as Lawyer of the Year in the New Haven metro area in the fields of personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability; and has been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers as among the top ten lawyers in Connecticut in the field of personal injury.

Mike is also a frequent lecturer and author on topics including personal injury, medical negligence, and trial advocacy, and is regularly sought out by other local and out-of-state law firms to serve as trial counsel on complex and high-stakes cases.

Personal Philosophy

From an early age, Mike was drawn to solving mysteries and uncovering the truth. That passion now fuels his trial practice: examining every angle, challenging every weakness, and fighting tirelessly for his clients, guided by an unwavering pursuit of justice. He was one of the first Connecticut lawyers to take on nursing home abuse cases, and his pioneering work in this field has shaped how these cases are litigated statewide.

Mike views each case as more than a legal battle – it’s about protecting families, restoring dignity, and creating lasting accountability. “We give a voice to people who are unable to speak for themselves,” he says. “It is an enormous responsibility, and we put our heart into every case.”
