About Harlow R. Case



Harlow R. Case, Esq., handles catastrophic medical malpractice and personal injury cases. He has settled or won at trial numerous cases in the six- and seven-figure range.

Mr. Case has represented the District of Columbia on the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He served as president of the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. He is also a former co-chair of the Personal Injury Steering Committee of the D.C. Bar, and has served as a member of the Judicial Conference of the District of Columbia. He has once again been named in Best Lawyers in America (2010) and as a Super Lawyer.

Harlow Case has volunteered thousands of hours as a mediator and arbitrator for Alternative Dispute Resolution programs of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. A mediation consultant with United States Aid for International Development, he traveled to Tanzania and Zambia numerous times to assist judges and magistrates in those nations in expanding the use of mediation as a means of resolving civil disputes.

Mr. Case has served as vice-chair of the National Law Student Trial Advocacy Committee of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), and as the Coordinating Host of ATLA's Moot Court National Championships. He is a member of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. and the Roscoe Pound Foundation.

For his legal excellence and service to the profession, Harlow Case was elected Trial Lawyer of the Year in 1996 by the Trial Lawyers Association, D.C. He was also honored as a Stalwart by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

A supporter of the local arts community, Harlow Case has served on the Board of Directors of the Washington Concert Opera and the Board of Trustees of the Washington Opera. Mr. Case has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Frederick B. Abramson Memorial Foundation.

Mr. Case is a native of upstate New York and a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Syracuse University. He has endowed a Syracuse University scholarship that is awarded each year to a graduate of the District of Columbia public schools. He received his law degree from George Washington University Law School. He is a member of the D.C. Bar.
