Ms. Charpentier’s principal area of practice is in healthcare with a focus on revenue cycle and third party payer disputes. She focuses on healthcare provider clients with an emphasis on managed care, governmental, state and third party payer reimbursement. She has represented hospitals involved in reimbursement and coverage disputes with insurance companies and other third-party payers. Ms. Charpentier has settled claims by carefully scrutinizing the provider’s managed care contracts and drafting administrative appeals. She has represented major corporate chains and obtained millions of dollars in reimbursement for clients. Matters appealed include institutional medical claims such as ERISA, Medicare audits, Medicaid, medical necessity (inpatient and outpatient), workers compensation, coverage and authorization –technical as well as clinical denials.
Prior to working for HLS, Ms. Charpentier worked at the law firm of Cadeaux & Taglieri, PC, a personal injury law firm. She assisted in all stages of litigation relating to personal injury, negligence, automobile accidents and insurance litigation. She also was a legal researcher for professors Starrs and Cunningham at the George Washington University Law Center and a research associate for the Environmental Lawyer Journal.
Previously, Ms. Charpentier taught at the University of Virginia and later became an Adjunct Professor/Lecturer at George Mason and George Washington Universities.
