Allison R. Schwartz is a director in the firm's Government Law & Policy practice, covering a wide range of client issues, including defense, foreign affairs, energy, agriculture, antitrust, border control, cybersecurity, food labeling and safety, gaming, government oversight, health care, homeland security, judiciary, labor, postal, taxation, technology and tobacco issues. She works with key congressional committees and congressional offices in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to develop and implement legislative strategies and policy initiatives. Allison's wide array of experience has allowed her to work closely with many key policy leaders on both sides of the aisle and across several different Congressional committees.
Allison's experience in foreign affairs has allowed her to work with members of the House Foreign Affairs and Senate Foreign Relations Committees on legislation, resolutions, and hearings which impacted U.S. allies in the Middle East and Europe. She has also worked with foreign ministry officials to develop working relations with congressional committees and to help them grasp the idea of how the U.S. Congress works. Allison also helped develop working relationships with members on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on cybersecurity, terrorism, refugee and other national security issues.
Allison is also experienced working with the House Energy and Commerce Committee on several key policy initiatives, including Medicare sustainable growth rate reform, health care, energy, tobacco policy and cybersecurity. Her tobacco and health-related work has also led her to work with Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee members and staffs as well. Allison has worked with the House Financial Services Committee and Senate Banking Committees through her work on gaming issues. She has also worked with them on cyber security, patent reform, and other legislative and oversight initiatives.
Through Allison's work on cybersecurity, national security and border security, she has worked with the House Homeland Security Committee, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, House and Senate Judiciary Committees, and Senate Banking Committee. She was able to use this experience and knowledge for her clients with patent reform concerns. Moreover, Allison has worked with both the House and Senate Agriculture committees on language for farm bills reauthorization. Her work with the Armed Services Committees focused on Department of Defense reauthorization legislation, combined with her focus with the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committees revolved around oversight initiatives of government activities as well as postal reform legislation. She also works with the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees members and staffs on trade legislation, tax simplification and reform packages, and IRS scandals, as well as other tax initiatives for specific industries.
