Hired Attorney

I hired Chris Pearsall for representation in a divorce matter after being told he would actively advocate and litigate when needed. Once retained, that approach did not carry through. Rather than applying pressure or advancing my position, he consistently steered the case toward concessions and discouraged asserting available leverage. When I pushed for stronger advocacy or asked him to pursue legal options, the response frequently shifted to warnings about withdrawal instead of constructive strategy discussions. One of the key issues involved a post-nuptial agreement prepared by my ex-wife with her attorney, Ken Kando. The judge indicated the issue would be better handled in Superior Court, yet Mr. Pearsall declined to pursue that path or meaningfully litigate it. Opposing counsel was largely allowed to control the pace and direction of the case with little resistance. I often felt more like a punching bag than a client being actively represented.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
