An experienced trial attorney, Michael Esmond has practiced primarily in the area of complex business litigation since joining the firm upon graduation from law school. In his more than ten years of practice he has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts and arbitrations in business tort and contract cases, construction litigation, oil and gas disputes, and shareholder derivative and appraisal actions. He has also represented clients in contested matters before administrative agencies including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, and the Oklahoma Department of Mines.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Esmond regularly advises business clients on issues including entity formation and governance and represents clients in the negotiation and documentation of a wide variety of transactions including commercial leases, construction contracts, and employment agreements.Mike is also active in the Tulsa Community. He serves as Secretary of the Tulsa County Bar Foundation’s Board of Trustees and has served on the board of the Tulsa County Bar Association, and as the chairperson of various Bar Association committees. In addition, he is a graduate of Leadership Tulsa (Class 39) and has served on the boards of several other non-profit organizations, including the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma and the Tulsa SPCA.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Esmond was an officer in the United States Air Force from 1995 to 2000. In law school, he was valedictorian of his graduating class, served as Managing Editor of the Tulsa Law Review and was awarded the Order of the Curule Chair, the Sellers and Bryant Oil & Gas Award, the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Medal of Excellence, and several CALI Awards.
