Kelly A. Smakal earned her law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville in December, 1996. During law school Ms. Smakal was on the Dean’s List, was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal honor fraternity, the Student Bar Association and various other law school committees.
Since that time, Ms. Smakal has focused her practice exclusively on domestic and family litigation matters, including guardianship and adoption. She is a frequent speaker on divorce and family law topics at continuing legal education seminars and has been an adjunct clinical professor of law at the University of Tulsa’s Elder Law Clinic addressing probate and guardianship issues.
Ms. Smakal has over fifteen years of experience in successfully representing hundreds of clients to successfully reach resolution with a multitude of family matters, whether through agreed settlement negotiations, mediation and/or trial; and, if necessary, through the appellate courts. Ms. Smakal has been recognized as an Oklahoma Super Lawyer Rising Star (2010) and named as an Oklahoma Super Lawyer each year since 2011 in the area of family law.
Ms. Smakal has been and currently is an active member of both the Oklahoma and Tulsa Bar Associations, having held several offices and received various awards. Over the years she has also served on the boards of various bar committees. Most recently, she has served on the Tulsa County Bench and Bar and Professional Responsibility committees. Ms. Smakal is also an active volunteer within her community. She is married and has two daughters.
