About Barber & Bartz A Professional Corporation

We are with you through the seasons of your life.

Barber & Bartz was founded in 1988 by Ron B. Barber and Robert J. Bartz, former classmates and graduates of the University of Tulsa College of Law. The firm began as a local general practice, and now serves clients from around the state through offices located in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The firm supports the personal as well as professional development of its attorneys, integrating personal growth with the practice of law by encouraging family and community involvement. It measures its effectiveness in the representation of its clients by reference to the client's individual expectations.

From the very beginning of a project, we will determine the client's expectations as well as their time and expense parameters. This initial assessment then guides our common-sense strategy and any practical alternatives we need to pursue in order to formulate a plan to achieve the client's goals. Performance and progress are measured against this plan throughout the course of the project. Using the latest technological advancements in the legal field, we are typically able to respond promptly to the client's need, regardless of the size of the problem.

Most projects are assigned to a "team" that is directed by a supervising attorney. The team meets on a weekly or more frequent basis to monitor progress, formulate and update strategies, and discuss solutions. This team approach helps us assure that a client's questions or concerns are addressed effectively and promptly. We regularly review our billings to the client in light of our engagement letter, or any initial estimates or fee quotes, and respond personally and promptly to any client questions or comments.

Hired Attorney Richard D. White Jr.

Rick represented my mom in a divorce case. There had been no discovery in the case and my mom was lacking details on their financial situation, but Rick scheduled a mediation anyway. When we questioned why he would do that, he got very angry and said that I couldn’t talk to him anymore. My mom found another attorney to represent her, so Rick overbilled her for the work he had done.

Hired Law Firm

Barber & Bartz provided a litigation budget with a wide range for handling my case. Before I changed firms, they had already billed me over THREE TIMES the HIGH end of that budget and had accomplished almost nothing in the case. Nearly $70,000 down the tubes. Unknown to me, the lawyer handling my case had developed a disability that made it almost impossible for him to do quality work. He told me he had occasional bouts with vertigo, but that was apparently quite an understatement. For the last six months of our relationship, none of the work he did bore any fruit. I live nearly 1,000 miles away, so I didn't know how bad it had become. The firm kept this information from me and did not take steps to ensure that this lawyer's clients received competent work. At one point, the lawyer disclosed client confidences to the other side without authorization and without obtaining anything in return. When I complained, Barber & Bartz acted as if I were the bad guy. Steer clear.

Hired Attorney Kara Pratt

Simply awful, runs the bill up all while accomplishing nothing. Terrible communicator, negotiator and at times it is questionable as to who she is actually working for. Contentious family cases are easy to muddle and drag out, which seems to be her strategy in order to bill more hours. She doesn't hesitate to get nasty with clients when they dare to question her methods or ask for explanation as to why no progress has been achieved. She was referred to me by someone who later used the same firm for divorce representation and ended up firing them also.

Hired Law Firm

I contacted Kara for my divorce by phone from Florida. After reviewing my case, I asked her what it would cost. She said, "Eight hundred will do it." I said, "That will cover all the costs?" She said, "Yes." After court she said, "There is an extra $300.00+ left to pay."I said, "You said the $800.00 would do it." She said, "I am new.I didn't know about this. The $800.00 was a retainer." This was b.s. I signed no agreement for more. Yet the firm messed up my credit score and hounded me. NO CLASS.
