About Ian M. Williamson

Ian Williamson represents clients in a broad array of commercial disputes, and has substantial experience litigating disputes among owners of closely held businesses. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Williamson assists clients with various business formation and maintenance issues. He is also experienced in drafting complex contracts, including shareholder and operating agreements, commercial leases, and contracts for the purchase or sale of business assets or ownership interests.

Mr. Williamson advises a wide range of entities and individuals. Some representative clients include an insolvent HMO's creditors' committee; several restaurants and restaurant chains; a charter school consulting company; a non-profit educational service provider; a personnel services company; employers and employees involved in non-compete and trade secrets disputes; and majority and minority ownership interests in a variety of industries.

In 2005, Mr. Williamson and Mr. Mantese published an article in the Michigan Bar Journal titled Minority Shareholder Oppression: From Estes to Franchino. Recently, the two teamed up with Mr. Rossman to revisit Michigan's statute governing shareholder lawsuits, and published a follow-up article titled Shareholder and Corporate Oppression Actions: Fixing Liability Against Those In Control of Closely Held Corporations
