EXPERIENCE

Don Warwick is an equity partner, a member of the Litigation Practice Group.

He specializes in defending hospitals, physicians and medical professionals in complex medical malpractice lawsuits. His work includes obstetrics/gynecology, birth trauma, pediatrics, cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, critical care, otolaryngology, emergency medicine, internal medicine and numerous other medical specialties.

Don is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell, the premier rating service for attorneys. He has more than twenty-five years of consistently successful trial work, including a multitude of defense verdicts.

Don also enjoys speaking with hospitals and physician groups, concerning medical malpractice issues.

He has been trial counsel in several leading medical malpractice cases, published by the Michigan Supreme Court and the Michigan Court of Appeals. These cases include Elher v Misra (expert qualifications, under MRE 702 and MCL 600.2955), Holman v Rasak (ex parte meetings with treating physicians and medical providers) and Cox v Port Huron Hospital (expert qualifications, under MCL 600.2169). He communicated effectively with us, and was always available if we had any questions. He kept us up to date. He was a master in the courtroom. Physicians when we experience loss or difficult outcomes with patients, a malpractice case is a painful reminder, despite our dedication to the best possible outcomes for patients, that medicine does not assure "best" outcomes. Don utilized his counselor role to be attentive to the emotional support for me to be successful in litigation defense. Me Warwick was extremely professional and timely in his interactions with myself and my coworkers. For such a high stress situation he made us feel prepared and confident. I was very grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with him. Our case was months and months of preparation and three weeks in court and with each step or new event Mr Warwick took time to ensure we understood what was expected of us as well as what we may expect going forward. Don is an accomplished, successful litigator. He thoroughly prepares his cases and I especially appreciate his aggressive motion practice. Through his motion practice, Don chips away at the case of his adversaries, eventually leaving them hanging on by a thread. If trial becomes necessary, Don is more than capable. He has tried - and won - several difficult cases for us.
