Melanie Larock articled at Thomson Rogers and was called to the Ontario bar in 2011. Melanie joined the Family Law Department of Thomson Rogers as an associate in 2012 after practicing personal injury litigation at a personal injury law firm in Toronto.

Melanie graduated with a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2010. While at Osgoode, Melanie volunteered with the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto Advocacy Project, the Ontario Justice Education Network, and Osgoode’s Community Legal Aid Services Program. Melanie gained advocacy experience as a finalist in the 2010 Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot, appearing before the Honourable Mr. Justice Louis LeBel of the Supreme Court of Canada.

Prior to law school, Melanie graduated summa cum laude from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours Degree and was the double recipient of the Provost Honour Medal. While at McMaster, Melanie worked as a research assistant in the field of neuroscience and volunteered at St. Peter’s Hospital with palliative care and brain injured patients.

Hired Attorney Melanie A. Larock

Melanie Larock and the late Patrick Schmidt accepted my file and won the case at a 12-day trial. Patrick Schmidt was an erudite and experienced lawyer, but Melanie is also obviously highly intelligent, industrious, and compassionate. They won the case because they were better, more organized, and smarter than the other lawyers, but they also worked harder, and they deserved to win. Melanie and Patrick knew their material, the law, and the details of the case. Their knowledge was the result of hard work as well as intelligence and was critical for the ultimate success of the case at trial. The result was that my daughter's access to her father was fully supported by the Court. We have benefitted meaningfully from this and have developed a great relationship, facilitated by the success at trial which Melanie and Mr. Schmidt secured. We are grateful for the considerable skill and ability which they brought to bear, and for the real effort that was made to understand and argue the case.
