About Lucy G. Jackson

Lucy is a personal injury and class action lawyer at Thomson Rogers. Her practice involves helping people who have been seriously injured in motor vehicle collisions, slip/trip and fall accidents, assault and battery, as well as medical device and product liability claims. In addition, Lucy’s class action practice involves claims of institutional abuse, negligent misrepresentation, breach of the Consumer Protection Act, in addition to personal injury claims.

Lucy has worked on a number of successfully resolved class actions with the Class Action Group at Thomson Rogers, including Zhang v Dupont, which involved allegations of breach of duty of informed consent regarding a medical procedure performed on the class. She also assisted with the successful certification and settlement approval of Goyal v Niagara College, 2020 ONSC 739. This certified and settled class action involved allegations by the class of international students that the defendant made alleged misrepresentations to them.

In the course of her practice, Lucy regularly attends Examinations for Discovery and Mediations on behalf of her clients, as well as appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. She advocates to ensure that her clients and their families have access to the medical and rehabilitation treatment they need under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (the no-fault benefits regime for victims of motor vehicle accidents). Lucy also has experience assisting her clients with their claims for Long Term Disability and Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits. In the course of her legal practice, Lucy works with private and community treatment providers throughout Ontario.

Lucy is also a Member of the Board of Directors and the Recording Secretary for the Community Head Injury Resource Services (CHIRS) in Toronto, Ontario. CHIRS is a community based brain injury rehabilitation program that provides a variety of critical services to its clients, including supportive living accommodations and clinical programs.

Prior to joining Thomson Rogers as an associate, Lucy articled with the firm. While at law school, Lucy completed a semester at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic, advocating on behalf of low-income clients at various courts in Nova Scotia. She also worked as a legal research intern at the Centre for Law and Democracy, an international human rights organization, and assisted clients locally at the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia and the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia. In recognition of her academic merit and community service, Lucy received the Schulich Scholarship in Law and the Clifford Rae Achievement Award.

Outside of work, Lucy enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to live music, and watching any and all Toronto sporting events.
