Denitza is a member of the firm’s Planning & Municipal Law Group and Expropriation Law Group. As part of that team, she has gained significant exposure to complex planning, municipal and expropriation matters. No matter how nuanced or basic the problem, Denitza takes the time to understand her clients’ issues and seeks to find practical, creative solutions whenever possible.
She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT), the former Ontario Municipal Board, and the Toronto Local Appeal Body (TLAB). She also appears before municipal committees and councils and has experience in all facets of planning law, including minor variance appeals and consent applications.
Denitza’s practice involves working with owners to achieve fair compensation and adequate accommodation when their property or business is expropriated, or, is in the process of being expropriated. She also helps developers, municipalities, and rate payers’ groups navigate through various planning and municipal processes, including appeals before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal.
Above all else, Denitza takes pride in providing her clients with quality legal service and genuinely enjoys the thrill of advocacy.
She graduated from the Litigation, Dispute Resolution, and Administration of Justice stream at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2013. This specialized stream of study enabled Denitza to hone her advocacy skills, winning second place in the Chicago regional competition of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
Prior to law school, Denitza graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto Political Science and English Literature programs. While attending the University of Toronto, Denitza monitored countries’ compliance with international sustainability policies as a Lead Analyst for the G8 Research Group.
She currently teaches the Planning Law and Contracts courses offered by the Association for Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO) as part of its Diploma in Municipal Administration.
