Teaching was Brian Nolan's first career, at the high school and university level. Now he represents several school boards in matters pertaining to education and labour law, especially the negotiation and administration of collective agreements with teacher and non-teacher unions.
Brian's experience as a teacher and school board trustee enables him to cultivate an atmosphere of respect, understanding and problem solving in collective bargaining. This approach effectively carries over into Brian's labour relations services to his private sector clients as well.
Brian represents public and private sector employers in grievance arbitrations and other employment issues. He appears regularly before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Canada Labour Board. He advises clients and represents them on Human Rights issues and Occupational Health and Safety matters. He appears at all levels of courts on behalf of his clients including the Ontario Divisional Court of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal.
While most of Brian's practice focuses on labour law, he also is an experienced advocate before the Ontario Municipal Board and represents private and municipal transportation companies before the Ontario Highway Transport Board.
Brian is the senior lawyer in the firm's Windsor office but his client base takes him regularly across Ontario to serve his clients' needs on a personal basis.
