After a two-year stint straight out of law school as an assistant public defender based in Clarkesville, Georgia, I spent the next 22 years in private practice representing people in criminal, domestic, and civil cases. In that time, I found that what I do best, and what I love to do most, is the practice of family law, which includes divorce, alimony, child support, custody, grandparent rights, pre-nuptial agreements, and other matters. For this reason, I decided to open NMS Law Firm, to focus on these types of cases. I graduated from Emory School of Law with a J.D. in 1992 and New York University in 1989, with a B.A. in journalism and politics. I graduated from Murray County (GA) High School in 1985. My husband, Sean A. Black, has lived in Stephens County since the 1970s and I have made Toccoa my home since 1992. We have two children.
