About John F. Sharpless

John F. Sharpless is an accomplished attorney focused exclusively on workers’ compensation law throughout his career. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Lehigh University in 1990 and his Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 1996. After admission to the Florida Bar that same year, John began representing Social Security claimants before moving to an insurance defense firm specializing in workers’ compensation and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act claims. Since 1999, he has devoted his practice solely to representing injured individuals. As a partner with Osborne & Sharpless and later Winer Law Group in Tampa, he has handled complex claims under the Defense Base Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, Florida State Workers’ Compensation, and Social Security Disability. Board Certified in workers’ compensation law since 2002 and continuously recertified through 2027, John was also recognized as a “Super Lawyer” in 2007. He is licensed before all Florida state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Outside of work, John enjoys music and backpacking, and is a proud husband and father.

Mr Sharpless did an excellent job. He walked me through many things I didn’t understand, and made sure everything was correct and completed in a timely manner. I would highly recommend him to anyone going through a workers compensation issue.

Mr. Sharpless made it extremely easy to understand what could be expected with each case. I never had an issue with getting in contact with him personally if needed, or with the office for any questions that I had. All matters regarding the case were handled in a prompt and professional manner. I would highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for an attorney.

John Sharpless was so helpful with getting me through all of the confusing mess that comes with filing for disability. His office always returns calls quickly. He has a very calming personality and he was clear on what to expect when it was time to go before the judge. After the judgement he didn't just drop me. His office helped me with a mix up with my account numbers. Thank you, John and Shannon!!!
