George Smith has practiced primarily public finance law since joining Bryant Miller Olive in 1999. He has represented numerous cities and counties throughout the State of Florida as Bond and/or Disclosure Counsel. He has represented several School Boards as Bond Counsel including Volusia, Pasco, Leon, Levy, Bay and Flagler Counties and has performed due diligence and prepared disclosure documents, either as disclosure counsel or underwriter's counsel, for the School Boards of Hillsborough, Hernando, Lake, Brevard, Clay, Escambia, Walton, Flagler and Okaloosa Counties. He has also represented underwriters such as A.G. Edwards, Inc., Citigroup Global Markets Inc., RBC Dain Rauchser Inc. and UBS Financial Services, Inc. purchasing the indebtedness of the School Boards of Lee, St. Lucie, Marion, Martin, Osceola and Indian River Counties. He has represented several housing finance authorities as Bond Counsel, including the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, and housing finance authorities in Miami-Dade County, Volusia County, Pinellas County and Hillsborough County. Prior to becoming a member of The Florida Bar, he clerked with the Florida Department of Banking and Finance and was a Legal Extern to Judge Lewis M. Killian Jr., at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Florida. Mr. Smith has been active in numerous civic and community activities, including volunteer work for the American Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee and as a mentor in the Take Stock in Children program through Tallahassee Community College. Mr. Smith is listed in the Municipal Bond Attorneys' section of The Bond Buyer's Municipal Marketplace and is a member of the NABL. Mr. Smith was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon (The International Economics Honor Society) and the Seminole Torchbearers Council of 100.
