Unethical GAL. Didn't tell the truth at trial. Hard to believe he's even still practicing law let alone making decisions about childrens parenting time. My advise for people looking for a non bias ethical Guardian Ad Litem is to avoid hiring him.
My assessment of Steve Downing (hereafter D.) is objective & empirical. D. was appointed the GAL for our daughter in a custody case. He called our 8-year-old daughter, who was just abused by her mother, a liar. During a meeting, he ordered my daughter to exit the room so the adults could talk. Upon leaving she hugged me & he slammed his fist on his desk, yelling, "I didn't say you could do that!" He terrified her & I felt her little body jolt! If he didn't have power over my case, I’d have eviscerated him! Then upon D. learning of my daughter's gleaming Psych Eval, exonerating her of his absurd & convoluted theory of her lying about the abuse, D. abruptly changed his story to me brainwashing her! I have proof of how he treats children, as I recorded the meeting with my daughter, her mum, D. & myself. This egocentric, insidious wretch should not have influence over children in a professional or any other capacity. I will file formal complaints with the Attorney General & BAR Association
