Stephanie M. Keating is a partner in our Estate Planning, Probate, Elder Law and Real Estate Groups. Ms. Keating is a member of the New York and New Jersey Bar. She represents clients in New York and New Jersey in a variety of estate planning transactions, drafting documents which best suit the needs of her clients, including Wills, Trusts, Health Care Proxies/Living Wills, and Powers of Attorney. She also handles the Probate and Estate Administration of estates in both New York and New Jersey, which includes the preparation of Estate Tax Returns.
In addition, Ms. Keating offers Elder Law Planning, which includes the preparation of Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts as well as the counseling, preparation and filing of Medicaid Applications. She does, as well, represent New York clients in a variety of real estate transactions, including residential closings, commercial lending, commercial leasing, commercial sales acquisitions, and represents condominium boards.
Ms. Keating belongs to the American and New York State Bar Associations (where she is a member of the Elder Law and Special Needs,Trusts and Estates, and Real Property sections), the Nassau County Bar Association (where she is a member of the Surrogate's Court Estates and Trust Committee), and the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Keating, as a licensed Certified Public Accountant, is also a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, having served as a co-chairman of the Estate and Financial Planning Committee. Ms. Keating is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), an organization dedicated to providing education and quality legal services for people as they age and those with disabilities.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting from Fairfield University, and her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law. Ms. Keating has lectured on Estate and Tax Planning issues and has published articles on various matters. She has also co-authored the tax section of the treatise entitled Elder Law and Guardianships in New York.
