Marissa T. Jones has practiced law since 2005. She graduated from CUNY Brooklyn College in 2001 and earned her J.D. from New York Law School in 2004. Her interest in law began at age 16, when she worked at a firm focusing on real estate transactions and probate matters, solidifying her decision to become an attorney.
Early in her career, Marissa gained experience as a Contract Attorney for prominent firms and as a Staff Attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, where she developed a focus on insurance regulatory matters and mergers and acquisitions. She later held roles as in-house counsel and compliance manager, honing her corporate regulatory skills.
In 2015, Marissa transitioned her focus to elder law, estate planning, guardianship, and Medicaid planning. Motivated by personal experiences as a legal guardian, she is passionate about supporting the elderly, disabled individuals, and their families. Marissa has worked with numerous families to preserve assets, provide care through guardianship, and navigate probate processes. She also serves as an Article 81 Guardian, advocating for individuals with mental health challenges, ensuring they receive compassionate care while protecting their dignity and interests.
