Karen Muir has not let me down with a challenging divorce, settlement, support, and custody case before a disinterested judge. While there are times I’ve been frustrated by the lack of response, she has always been there timely when it truly matters and has done all in her power within the legal system to protect my daughter. Some may be turned off by her matter-of-fact nature and confidence, but she is doing that based upon her experience and expertise which is exactly what is necessary and what she is paid to do. I won’t consider anyone else to protect my daughter until she’s of legal age.

I would NOT recommend her for child custody against Cys and/or FICS! She works on their behalf, I had complaints about not being available for home visits due to me working so she told me as well as FICS that I needed to quit my job so I could be home and available in which I took her advice until the final court hearing and told me I wasn’t able to get my child back due to only my wife having an income and I should’ve been working. SMH at the poor advice as well as the minimum effort to fight my case!!

Karen is a well connected attorney in State College that has influence and can make valuable deals even in a predicament where your guilt is very evident. However... Karen lacks communication skills and compassion for her clients. She doesn't care about any immediate details you need or answers you need questions even up to critical dates of your process. If you have anxiety and looking for someone to give you any sense of comfort she is not the one to hire.

Karen Muir represented a man who admitted to defiant trespass through breaking down a door to gain access to his female victim’s living space. I question her ethics - why would a woman take a client who admits to harassing and threatening a woman?

Ms. Muir shared an office with my real estate lawyer, who did a fantastic job with my closings. She was recommended from clients, whom I trusted, and also referred me to Mr. Rayman. Do NOT hire her. My divorce took years to finalize. I have a relative that was a judge and referred me to lawyers. Her name wasn't on the list, but my ex husband's lawyer was. My ex lived in my house two years without paying any bills during this dragged-out proceeding, then tried to claim my son on his taxes. Luckily, my accountant was much better than the attorney. Sent me a final bill for $500-never paid it due to the incompetence. I felt that if she couldn't correctly resolve the situation, she shouldn't be paid more than she already received. I had a friend hire her in 2018 or 2019. I told them to contact my ex's lawyer. They didn't listen and their divorce wasn't finalized until spring 2024. Made sure another friend who filed for divorce in 2023 did not contact her.

I paid Ms. Muir's fee for a consultation explaining that I needed her to speak with my son about a case he is involved in. I emphasized that I needed to speak with Ms. Muir additionally so that she would understand the extent of the problem. I called her office a total of 5 times asking for her to return my call. I was assured each time that she would get back to me. It has been 6 months!? She ignored me. Blatantly disregarded my pleas every single time I called. I called and asked to be reimbursed if Muir was too busy. Ignored again. I give up. Why do some attorneys lack basic manners? How can one have a law practice and do nothing but collect a fee? This attorney was even recommended. A complete waste of my time and a complete lack of concern. This attorney certainly is too busy and should stop taking clients that she cannot even speak with. Ms. Muir lacks every positive attribute listed above and is more of a do-thing.

Karen is horrible. After an initial conversation, she promised things she has never once followed through with. She is arrogant, misleading, lacks communication, and from my experience does not stand on her word. She does not need to be in this field of work if she is not going to take her job or clients serious!

FIRED HER! SHE FLIRTED WITH MY EX HUSBAND IN COURT AND DID NOTHING FOR ME. SHE SUCKS. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. PLUS SHES VERY ARROGANT.

Karen Muir was a complete disappointment. She took retainer and never heard from her again... arrogant and did virtually nothing for my case. This woman is not an ethical person. Would strongly recommend NOT to hire her!!
