Pamela Smith should not be a GAL or anything else with regards to family law cases. My husband begged for a GAL in his custody case. Finally, someone unbiased! WRONG! She met with him for an hour, assured him the goal was to reunite families! What a joke. She never even met my husbands ex, OR HIS DAUGHTER! She twisted everything he said and literally repeated word for word what my ex has been spewing for years. Mind you, ALL UNTRUE AND VERIFIABLE! Yet, she refused to change the report. Spent all the money and padded her hours….. not to mention the numerous phone calls to the ex and her lawyer for updates…… Hmmmmmmm…. Updates on what? Pamela Smith is absolutely the worst GAL there is and is the opposite of fair! At least I hope she is the worst. Or my faith in the Maine family court system is completely gone. And I am a woman with my own children.

Was appointed as a GAL in a family law case. She could have not been any more biased and unprofessional. Ignored almost all of my imput, ignored emails and phone calls. Zero effort to do any fact checking. A shameful and disappointing performance from start to finish.

I did not hire Ms. Smith. I was contacted to offer information in a child custody case. As best I can tell from the outcome, the information I offered was not documented, presented to the court. My involvement was not a matter of jeopardy. The plaintiff in the case told the defendant at the time of divorce that she would make his life hell and she has done so. Ms. Smith did not interview the 9.5 year old child involved. He is showing more signs of sadness/depression as he is not allowed the time he desperately needs with his father. The plaintiff has significant limitations and lacks emotional affect and does not seem to understand the need for the child's positive involvement with the defendant. The defendant requested the GAL, paid for it and sought Ms. Smith's counsel to do the best for the minor child and he was offered nothing except reprimands. It was determined by Ms. Smith that the minor child's opinion did not matter in the outcome of the case. Wrong, from start to finish.

Pam Smith was involved in my custody case. She assisted in filing a false PFA in order to get the upper hand for “her client” the other parent. She should be in jail as well as disbarred. This was one of the most egregious abuses of power I have seen.

I witnessed Pamela J. Smith serve as a GAL in a high-profile custody case for my friend’s two young sons I and was deeply disturbed by what I saw. Despite 30 years in Maine family law, she showed bias toward the father, who has a history of abuse (which was wiped from the record under a plea deal) while disregarding the mother’s consistent efforts over six years, including compliance with all court orders, stable housing and supervised visits, despite battling aggressive breast cancer, lokely caused by the stress and PTSD from this situation. Ms. Smith fabricated baseless claims, opposed in-home visits, and had questionable billing practices. Her conduct was so inept my friends attorney reported her to the Bar Association and motuoned to have her removed from the case. Her conduct has caused prolonged separation and emotional harm to the children. A GAL must be impartial and child-focused; Ms. Smith failed. Not recommended!

My experience with Pamela Smith was deeply troubling and raises serious concerns about her qualifications and impartiality. Over 18 months, Ms. Smith visited me once for barely over an hour. She never met my children, never met their mother, and never spoke to anyone in my family, despite repeated attempts to contact her. Meanwhile, she communicated frequently with my ex-partner and her family. Her final report recommended continued supervised contact and full custody to the mother without providing any justification. There is no history of abuse, no mental illness, and I’ve passed two hair follicle drug tests and a professional substance abuse evaluation. I was a loving, hands-on father for years, fully involved in daily care and decision-making. I received little to no communication from Ms. Smith despite repeated outreach. Her report was biased, incomplete, and demonstrated a profound failure to investigate. She offered no path toward restoring my relationship with my children.

Pamela Smith is a joke to society, I don’t understand why she still has her job, after reading the other reviews I decided to post one. My husband & I went to court to get visitation of our grandson that we raised for 6 years. The Judge is friends with Pamela Smith, and MADE us hire her as a guardian ad litem!!!!! She NEVER did anything, she is to lazy to do her job, she just sits back and listens to the school counselor that recommend for us not to have contact with our grandson. She never came to our house to interview me or my husband. She ONLY listen to one side of the story, she doesn’t care about kids, she only cares about the money!!!!!

SMITH fell asleep during a hearing. She apparently by reading the other reviews has a go to method of how she does best interest cases and it's highly unethical and she should be disbarred. She is in bed with the Maine Supervised Visitation Center and what I beleive a child trafficking ring if not just a money scheme where all clients are forced to use Betsy who is the owner of the Center and Pamela gets kick backs. Also Betsy can make up anything as evidence to give to Pamela since the visits are not video tapped. Pamela also lied saying she knew nothing about the POA that SHE wrote herself in her own handwriting posing as my x husband. She went as far to state I used firearms in an abusive way in army basic training to somehow make me sound dangerous to the judge. I have an honorable discharge and she continues to lie and was never at my basic training. She also is so blatant to show bias to the point she demands one only parent undergo a mental assessment. She ignored child abuse.

Pam Smith should not be a GAL. I had to fight to get a GAL. Ardith Keefe only wanted Pam Smith, that was opposed when we had mediation. A magistrate appointed a GAL and Ardith quietly requested Pam Smith to the courts. Pam was ordered to speak to any child over 3 years old, she did not because she knew what she would hear. She was very biased. She spent over 2 hrs speaking to opposing side and about 80 minutes with me. She was working with Ardith on this case to the point where Ardith made sure Pam was fully paid , she was, at the hearing. Pam should be disbarred and should not be a GAL. She does not watch out for the kids she watches out for her friend. Pam and Ardith were always talking whenever they were on the phone or around each other

I was pointed to the review by Peter, after going through precisely the same exact thing with Pam. All bias to the otherside, and I am a dad that faught for a GAL. The other side (mom) did NOT want a GAL and faught against it due to reasons that would have been discovered. Pam did NOT investigate properly and took sides with mom right away. She did NOT talk with the school, only 1 of my 7 references, and NOT my counselor directly. There were no medical records reviewed, all part of the "agreement" to means of services to be provided. This was determined, before her "work," to be optimal for my case and what I continue to battle for. I was secure with WHAT would be found with NOTHING to hide. But with MINIMAL work done, nothing was found and her findings/report for the "settlement" was verbatim what the other side alleged with no proof, nor supporting documentation.
