Cohen, along with legal colleague Sue Georgiades and their paralegal support staff, takes pride in the firm’s work. “We do not handle cases, we represent real people with families and problems that include legal, financial, emotional and psychological issues,” he says. Although Cohen is particularly known as an experienced and aggressive litigator, he says, “I have never tried a case better than I could settle it, so long as both sides are motivated by informed and rational self-interest.” The key to successful negotiation is to base discussions on each side’s real interests and not on just their differences.
