Richard J. McKyton received his B.A. in Political Science, graduating with Honors from the University of Florida in 1992, and earned his J.D., Cum Laude, from Stetson University College of Law in 1995, where he competed on trial teams that won state and national competitions. From May 1995 to August 1998 he served as an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, conducting more than 60 misdemeanor and felony jury trials and serving on the DUI Manslaughter Squad. He entered private practice in 1998 and spent over two years as an associate at Abbey, Adams, Byelick, Kiernan, Mueller & Lancaster, LLP, focusing on motor-vehicle, premises, medical-malpractice, and nursing-home cases. Since 2001 his office has been at 1229 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, where he concentrates on criminal defense and personal injury. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1995, is licensed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and is active in the St. Petersburg Bar Association.
