About C. Hunter Rawls

Hunter Rawls is an attorney practicing in the Wills, Trusts and Estates division of Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. He is a sixth-generation Floridian who has lived and worked along the Gulf Coast all of his life.

Mr. Rawls grew up in Sarasota, Florida, as an avid fisherman and photographer. He attended the University of South Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Upon graduation, Mr. Rawls joined the sales force of an international manufacturer of medical products, before signing on with a well-known local wine and restaurant group. He then went to work for a privately held banking institution for several years, where he enjoyed learning about finance and interacting with clients.

Shortly thereafter, Mr. Rawls enrolled at Stetson University College of Law, where he focused his studies on trusts, estates, and real property. During his tenure at Stetson, Mr. Rawls earned the book award for Estate Planning, became a certified legal intern for the State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit, and was a researcher for the National Clearinghouse for Science, Technology & the Law. Eager to begin his career as an attorney, he maintained a full course load and attended all available summer sessions, graduating early with a juris doctor degree.

Mr. Rawls promptly went to work for a Tampa firm that specialized in civil litigation, where he represented many high profile corporations, universities, and government entities in a wide variety of disputes. During this time, Mr. Rawls gained invaluable courtroom experience, advocating on behalf of his clients in all phases of litigation. His territory consisted of Florida’s entire Gulf Coast, and he successfully negotiated hundreds of cases. After spending eight years with the firm, Mr. Rawls decided to pursue his long standing dream of practicing as an estate lawyer.

At Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, Mr. Rawls is focused on providing top quality representation to all of his clients. While his primary focus is on estate planning, he also engages in various trust, probate, and real estate litigation. Whether he is drafting testamentary documents or representing a client in a dispute, his strong litigation background provides him with an indispensable perspective. Mr. Rawls appreciates that the needs and goals of his clientele are unique, and he strives to provide a plan specifically tailored to fit the individual objectives of each and every client.

Mr. Rawls is pleased to give back to his community. He is an active member of the St. Petersburg Bar Association, and regularly volunteers his time to assist low-income elderly St. Petersburg residents with the preparation of wills and advance directives. He is also a big supporter of his alma mater and the local arts movement. During his free time, Mr. Rawls enjoys golf, photography, nature, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
