I hired Mr. Dieterich to represent me in a frivolous lawsuit filed against me. He took a $4,400 retainer from me, started on the case, appeared in court, started with discovery and suddenly withdrew from the case, claiming a life threatening brain illness. He refused to give back any of my money, referred me to another law firm he had worked with, (which did not correct his errors). He had failed to file for any damages and losses done to me, which came back to haunt me. His mishandling of my case caused me to suffer large damages. After having several meetings with him, I realized he did not have an understanding of my case. Whether his "brain illness" or simply him not understanding the case, cost me many thousands of dollars by not asking for damages. His reasoning for accepting the case was, He didn't think it was going to be as much work as it was shaping up to be. He refused to return any of my retainer even though he failed to request damages I was entitled to.
