About Allison Gerli

Allison Gerli joined the Center for Family Law in 2013. Allison focuses her practice on complex divorce cases, motions to modify child support and child custody, child custody and child support matters between unmarried couples or third parties, adoptions, and guardianships. She is also a certified family law Mediator, and trained in Collaborative Divorce and as a Guardian ad Litem.

Allison is a St. Louis native, born on The Hill and raised in North County. After moving away for college and law school, Allison returned to St. Louis in 2012. When Allison is not chasing after her two daughters, she and her husband are busy rehabbing her home on The Hill, once owned by her grandparents, and travelling as much as possible.

Working with Allison Gerli and our whole collaborative divorce team was a wonderful experience. Allison helped me stay grounded during what can be a very turbulent process, and she was so supportive and empathetic. She was also very responsive with her communication and always answered my questions, no matter how strange. And she helped me negotiate a great settlement! I had a very positive experience working with Allison, despite the nature of divorce not lending itself to positive experiences. She was knowledgeable, calm, quick to respond when I requested explanations of current events and projections of our next steps. With Covid interfering with in-person meetings and causing the legal system to grind ever slower, Allison's persistence was even more appreciated -- as was her reliably swift response to online communications. My case was ultimately settled according to terms that I found acceptable, and we did not have to go to trial. Additionally: I am transgender, and have often had unpleasant interactions with people because of that. Allison's office never once misgendered me, and even helped me secure my legal name change independently from the divorce proceedings when my ex's unwillingness to communicate and the added complication of Covid made the divorce stretch on.

Allison worked on my case (child custody) during the COVID-19 crisis, where she worked from home. I mention this because not once did I ever feel she was neglecting my case. She remained professional, responded to emails in a timely manner, thoroughly answered any question I asked, and still ensured documents were filed with the courts. This really allowed my mind to be at ease throughout the process, especially seeing her dedication to my case. What I appreciate most is she always considered the betterment of my child when it came to making a recommendation or decision. Ultimately, my case was settled, and I owe that to Allison.
