About James E. Carmichael

James E. Carmichael is the founder of James E. Carmichael, Attorney at Law, where he represents clients in criminal defense matters across St. Charles, St. Louis, and Lincoln counties in Missouri. After earning a B.A. from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) in 1976 and his J.D. from Washington University Law School in 1979, he began practicing law and later became a partner in St. Charles-area firms handling both criminal and personal injury cases. Since founding his own practice, Mr. Carmichael has managed thousands of cases involving drug and alcohol offenses, theft, domestic violence, assault, sex crimes, weapons charges, and homicide. He has secured favorable verdicts in dozens of jury trials and earned an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale Hubbell®. Active in the legal community, he has served on the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys’ board and as president of the St. Charles County Bar Association.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.
