The deceased lawyer-father of Mr. Randall Segatto III was a compassionate, forthcoming, knowledgeable, and unusually helpful attorney to my dying father, allowing my father to settle his affairs and find peace as he went from cancer diagnosis to death at an early age. Decades later, my widowed mother turned to the younger Mr. Randall Segatto, thinking he would be (or actually was) his own father. He was not. She was old, confused, and clearly did not understand the complicated living trust she set up (and changed). After her difficult death, we encountered a cascade of problems. RWS III had taken money for each revision. After his client's death, he washed his hands of the remaining family and avoided phone inquiries about difficult issues arising from his work. Family chaos ensued and still abides. My mother's urgent desire for fairness did not flow from her trust account. It was a small estate, so perhaps unworthy of careful attention.
